Automotive Technologies Program is a two-year Higher Education Program that aims to train qualified intermediate human resources that the automotive sector needs in both production and after-sales service levels in accordance with the philosophy of quality and service that will meet the expectations of the age. Graduates of the Automotive Technologies Program associate degree can be employed in public institutions and organizations as well as private sector businesses with the title and responsibility of Automotive Technician. In addition to these, Automotive Technicians can develop their employment resources by establishing their own businesses and performing their professional activities in their own businesses. They can be employed in public institutions and organizations; in machine supply levels, in all levels related to automotive.
In private sector businesses; almost all levels of main and sub-industry automotive factories are assigned with titles and responsibilities that can be considered as technicians. However, it is seen that automotive technicians are present in large numbers in production and assembly lines and play an active role in production activities, provide communication and liaison between engineers, planners and managers and workers, act as team leaders in quality circles, and take responsibility as trainers in on-the-job training of lower-level personnel in training activities. Another part of the automotive sector that is as important as production is the services, sales points and training centers that we can call after-sales service units.
The responsibilities of automotive technicians in these units have increased as a result of the transition of the production system from mass production to lean production and the implementation of customer-oriented quality and sales principles. In these units, they take on responsibilities and duties in many areas from group leadership, service management, sales group leadership, spare parts, service workshop management to personnel training. If defined in more detail, automotive technicians mostly work in private sector organizations; They are employed as operators or foremen in automotive main industry and sub-industry factories, operators or foremen in automotive authorized and special services, operators or foremen in production or maintenance-repair works of motorcycle and marine engines, operators in areas where automotive equipment/bench/device is used, operators or foremen in the automotive component manufacturing industry, technical personnel in project and design works that require reading-drawing technical drawings, operators in areas where measurement and control devices are used, operators or foremen in hydraulic-pneumatic system areas, customer representatives and sales personnel in vehicle and spare parts sales enterprises in the automotive field, damage consultants in expertise enterprises, inspection technical personnel or foremen in vehicle inspection stations, technical intermediate personnel in product development and R&D offices, and operators or foremen in gas fuel conversion enterprises.
